what style of pizza does federalist serve?
Our first love is our signature Neapolitan style O.G. fluffy bubbly crust. If you want to mix it up, try our Deep Dish square pies, inspired by the Sicilian styles of Detroit and New York.
Everything is baked fresh to order in our wood fired oven.
how do i order food and beer for pickup?
Order online during normal business hours or call 916-400-3859 and our team will happily assist you. Questions or dietary needs? Give us a call instead and we’ll be glad to assist you!
are there gluten-free options?
We have a delicious gluten-free crust that can be ordered with any pizza for a small upcharge. Also try our seasonal salads and sweet & savory extras!
how about vegan options?
We’re proud to serve a range of plant-based fare, featuring fresh produce, vegan meat substitutes, and nut-based cheeses. Look for the (VA) next to each option on our menu!
are there any happy hour specials?
You know it! Join us every Monday from 5 - 10pm for Midtown Mondays, offering the best dine-in special on the grid:

what kind of wood do you cook with?
We use locally-sourced almond wood. It’s incredible.
so, just how hot is the pizza oven?
Our oven, whom we affectionately call Vader, averages 750-degrees. It feels amazing in the winter!

are you a brewery?
Nope — We’re a taproom and restaurant! We proudly serve a wide selection of styles from our favorite craft breweries throughout California.
does federalist just serve beer and wine?
We’ve got much more to choose from! Try our citrus apple or white peach sangria, locally-brewed kombucha, house-made lemonade, and an assortment of craft sodas.
can i sample any beer?
Totally. We’ve always got fun new brews on tap, and are happy to pour you up to 2 samples to help find what you enjoy. (21+ only)
i forgot my id or credit card! what do i do?
No stress. We close out all outstanding credit card tabs at the end of each night with a 20% gratuity applied. Your credit card and/or ID will be kept in our restaurant safe for 30 days. You may pick up your item(s) during regular restaurant hours (Mon - Thur 5 - 9pm, Fri 5 - 10pm, and Sat - Sun 12 - 10pm).
After 30 days we will shred all remaining cards.

how do i reserve a table for our group?
We reserve tables for parties of 6 or more. Groups of 10 or more are recommended to submit a food pre-order.
Send us a message with more information and we’ll be happy to get you set up to dine with us!
Larger parties are highly encouraged to book your space early due to our limited reservation availability.

what’s up with the shipping containers?
Owner Marvin Maldonado is an architect by trade, and in 2014, dreamed up the Federalist concept out of 7 steel containers.
Fun fact: Federalist has a green roof, covered in grass, flowers, succulents, and herbs, which helps with insulation to keep you cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter!
please explain this “dangerous freedom” thing.
“I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery” is a translation of a Latin phrase that Thomas Jefferson used in a letter to James Madison in 1787: "Malo periculosam, libertatem quam quietam servitutem." It has also been translated as, "I prefer the tumult of liberty to the quiet of servitude."

what are the current policies in the restaurant?
Our team has committed to a strict sanitation protocol, including but not limited to frequent hand washing, regular cleaning of high-traffic areas, and temperature checks of all staff.
We are an OUTDOOR FACILITY. Guests are, at this time, not required to wear masks and are provided with multiple hand sanitizer stations throughout the restaurant.
